Happy Easter! (Week 31)

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a great Easter! This is not really a weekly email and I will get straight to the point. This past week has definitely been an eventful one. Last Friday, I was diagnosed with this thing called Bell's Palsy. Scary. Last Wednesday, the right side of my lip was feeling a little weird and by Thursday , I lost all control of the muscle in the right side of my face. On Friday , I received a priesthood blessing and went to the doctor to get it checked out. It was definitely an expensive day. Had to see a nerve specialist, get a MRI and all that fun stuff. The bad news is, I have zero control of the muscle in the right side of my face and I'm on some meds for this week. Good news is, in a couple months I should be all good. Apparently it is due to a bit of a virus I've had recently on top of the stresses of being a missionary and that caused a bit of minor nerve damage. So I'm sorry in advance for all of my pics with no smiles in them thes...

Come hear a prophet's voice! ⛩ (Week 30)

ηš†γ•γ‚“γ“γ‚“γ«γ‘γ―! Hope everyone had a great week this week! Elder Yara and I have been working pretty hard this week. Remember how I said the weather would be great this past week? Well it was fantastic... for like half of one day, then right back into the rain. Believe me, I want some good pictures of the Sakura as well, but we haven't exactly had time for a photo shoot yet. Haha, anyway, this past week was not great for dendo, but it was a blast. We spent a lot of time visiting potential investigators, making lots of phone calls, and working with members. In other words, our area book is looking pretty dry right now, but we are working hard to find those who the Lord has prepared to receive our message. This past week, we had Zone Conference in Fussa. I always enjoy being able to attend those trainings and get together with homies in the zone. It was way good. Anyway, after that, we taught Eikawa, which is always way fun. I love being able to teach English! Plus the students are all j...

Happier Than a Tornado in a Trailer Park 🏘πŸŒͺπŸ‘ (Week 29)

Hello everyone! Hope everyone has had a great week this week! Also hope everyone enjoyed general conference! As for all of us here in Japan, we will be watching next week because of the language translation delay. You'd better believe we are all way excited though! As for this past week, not much to report. Just lots of finding and trying to meet with people. I'm sure people are tired of receiving calls and visits from us by now lol. Because we have had a bit of a difficult time finding people to teach recently (and the weather has been pretty terrible on top of that), we decided to work with the people we have already found. We have been calling people like crazy and knocking on more doors than a cop in Miami. Come rain, freeze, thunderstorm, or all three, you'd better believe we are biking through it and stopping by that potential investigators home! The best part is, we are having so much fun through it all! I don't think I've ever been so soaking wet and happy a...

One and a half white guys (Week 28)

ηš†γ•γ‚“γ“γ‚“γ«γ‘γ―! Hope everyone had another great week! This past week has been one full of pleasant surprises in Kunitachi. It all began as just your normal transfer week in the Japan Tokyo South Mission, but on Tuesday we received a call from the president informing us that Elder Winn will be transferring to the Hibarigaoka area and another missionary, Elder Mori (a nihonjin), will be coming to Kunitachi. And, my new companion is Elder Yara, from Okinawa. You know what that means? Yep, I'm the only white guy in the entire district. Elder Handley is half white and half Japanese (hence the title of the email), but he is fluent in English and Japanese so our entire four man apartment is nothing but Japanese. Talk about out of the kettle and into the fire! Oh well, I see it as an opportunity to really increase my skill and understanding in Japanese language and culture. Needless to say, it will be difficult at times, but I am way excited! Elder Yara is a great companion as well. He is qui...

Transfer 4πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅⛩ (Week 27)

Hello everyone! Hope everyone had a great week! We have received some exciting news here in Kunitachi this past week! On Saturday , we received transfer emails! Elder Handly, Elder Winn, and I will all be staying in Kunitachi! But, the exciting part is I will be receiving a new companion (my fifth companion in the field). His name is Elder Yara and he is from Okinawa (s/o to all my homies in Fukuoka mission right now). Anyway, Elder Yara will be my first Japanese companion so I am super excited. I plan to take full advantage of the opportunity of being with a native Japanese speaker. Hopefully it will really increase my skill in the language. On another note, I can't believe I'm already transfer four! It still feels like I just got here a couple weeks ago! Time flies when you're having fun I guess! That's about all to report this week. There has been a big push for working with members and less actives in the Kunitachi Ward recently, so we haven't done a whole lot ...

6 Months!?πŸŒ‹ (Week 26)

ηš†γ•γ‚“γ“γ‚“γ«γ‘γ―! Hope everyone had a great week! Not much has happened this past week in Kunitachi and today is Temple p-day so not much time to write. So here's the run down. Had tons of meetings last week. Almost no dendo time. Thursday we had a training at the honbu (HQ) in Kichijoji. After that, Elder Duke was transferred to Tama and I teamed up with Elder Handley and Elder Winn. So far has been a blast! They are both so much fun! Anyway, since then, we have still had a few meetings and on top of that, we have to work real hard to cover two area books. It is quite the experience lol. Anyway, that's pretty much all that has happened this past week. In other news, as of today, I have been on a mission for six months! It's crazy to see how time flies. It feels like I have been on a mission for so long but at the same time, it feels like I just arrived. It's a weird feeling. Anyway, to all my homies out there who just opened mission calls, Congrats and good luck! Don't wa...

3 Musketeers⚔️ (Week 25)

ηš†γ•γ‚“γ“γ‚“γ«γ‘γ―! Hope everyone had an amazing week this past week. Things have been quite eventful here in Kunitachi recently. To begin with, last week was pretty slow. Nobody wanted to talk to us. It was difficult to even get anyone to say hello back. Elder Duke and I were feeling a little down and just plain tired. It was rough but we kept working hard. Sunday is where things got interesting. We had a great day at church. The lessons went really well, learned a lot of new words in Japanese, and it was a good time. After church, we came back home and while we were chilling at lunch, Elder Duke got a call from President Warnick saying that he is being Emergency transferred to Tama on Thursday . So for at least the rest of this transfer, I will be in a 3 man companionship with Elder Handly and Elder Winn. Hence the title, Three Musketeers lol. And because Elder Winn is still a bean (transfer 1-2), that technically makes me a trainer with Elder Handly. Exciting stuff! I doubt it will be ...
