3 Musketeers⚔️ (Week 25)

皆さんこんにちは!
Hope everyone had an amazing week this past week. Things have been quite eventful here in Kunitachi recently. To begin with, last week was pretty slow. Nobody wanted to talk to us. It was difficult to even get anyone to say hello back. Elder Duke and I were feeling a little down and just plain tired. It was rough but we kept working hard. Sunday is where things got interesting. We had a great day at church. The lessons went really well, learned a lot of new words in Japanese, and it was a good time. After church, we came back home and while we were chilling at lunch, Elder Duke got a call from President Warnick saying that he is being Emergency transferred to
Tama on Thursday. So for at least the rest of this transfer, I will be in a 3 man companionship with Elder Handly and Elder Winn. Hence the title, Three Musketeers lol. And because Elder Winn is still a bean (transfer 1-2), that technically makes me a trainer with Elder Handly. Exciting stuff! I doubt it will be the same next transfer but I am excited for the last couple weeks of this one! Anyway, after all the excitement of sudden transfer calls, Elder Duke had about an hour before we had to go back home so we decided to walk to Tachikawa station and back. As usual, it started off slow, and we ended up only being able to talk to one person, but that one person became a new investigator and will be at church on Sunday! Miracles everywhere! Today we are hiking Mt. Takao so I am excited for that. I will send pictures. Right now I am typing this in the train on the way to Takao. Fun stuff. Anyway, that's about all to report this week!

This week I have been thinking a lot about families and how grateful I am for my family. When Elder Duke and I dendo, we always choose a topic that we want to teach about for each day on the streets.
Recently we have talked a lot about families and as we have taught, I have thought a lot about my own family. I am so thankful for the amazing examples that have been set for me by my family. From my amazing Great Grandfather who was a WWII veteran, a patriarch, and still an incredible example for me today, all the way to my father who serves with nothing held back. I have thought about all the amazing role models in my life and how blessed I am to have the family that I have. And to top it all off, we have the opportunity of eternal families. Family through this life and through the next. What an amazing blessing! So to all my family out there, 愛しています! Until next week!

Happy Easter! (Week 31)

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a great Easter! This is not really a weekly email and I will get straight to the point. This past week has definitely been an eventful one. Last Friday, I was diagnosed with this thing called Bell's Palsy. Scary. Last Wednesday, the right side of my lip was feeling a little weird and by Thursday , I lost all control of the muscle in the right side of my face. On Friday , I received a priesthood blessing and went to the doctor to get it checked out. It was definitely an expensive day. Had to see a nerve specialist, get a MRI and all that fun stuff. The bad news is, I have zero control of the muscle in the right side of my face and I'm on some meds for this week. Good news is, in a couple months I should be all good. Apparently it is due to a bit of a virus I've had recently on top of the stresses of being a missionary and that caused a bit of minor nerve damage. So I'm sorry in advance for all of my pics with no smiles in them thes

MTC Week 5

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week! This week in the MTC has been great! Last Wednesday we got our new kohai (1st 3 week missionaries). They are great, and remind me a lot of when I first came in. Time really flies! We will be dai-senpai (3rd 3 week missionaries) in 6 days . [Note from Barry:  I looked up the translation of kohai, senpai, and dai-senpai.  Here's what I gather:  Missionaires going to Japan are in the MTC for about 9 weeks.  Every 3 weeks a new group of missionaries to Japan comes in. kohai = junior student (first 3 weeks in the MTC) senpai = advanced student or upperclassman (2nd 3 weeks in the MTC) dai = great or big, so dai-senpai = the most senior students (last 3 weeks)] Last Friday marked our one month mark. Only 23 left in the mission, and time is just getting faster and faster. Saturday marked our half way point in our MTC experience. The first 2 or 3 weeks were rough, but these past few have been great. The five other eld

The Beginning of the End ⛩ (Week 97)

Have you ever just walked outside and been like, wow, you know, it’s really really hot out here and it probably can’t get any hotter than this? And then you walk out the next day and realize it got even hotter... We’ll, if I had to sum up our week this past week, that’s how I’d describe it. Hachioji truly is 太陽の町. It’s been rough, but we’re hanging in there and having some fun along the way. In other news, this past week was transfers, and there has been some major changes. First off, I’m still here in Hachioji (blessings from Heaven), but Elder Gill transferred to my old area Yokosuka, and my new companion is the one and only Elder Matsunaga from Yamaguchi-Ken. On top of that, our zone has doubled in size and now we cover the entire Machida Stake rather than just the western half. Yea, I just thought last transfer was busy. We’ve been running around like chickens with our heads cut off working with Stake leaders, organizing all our districts, planning zone conference, and coordinatin
