Little America (Week 24)

Another week of miracles in Japan! Not much time to write today, but that's okay because everything eventful that happened this week, happened within a span of like 2 days. So I'll get right to the point. Monday through Thursday was spent doing a lot of streeting and a lot of housing. On Thursday , we had zone meeting. It went really well. I was able to learn a lot and receive some personal revelation for myself as a missionary. Directly after zone meeting, Elder Duke and I got the opportunity to go on splits with the zone leaders, Elder Carrasco (from Mexico) and Elder Gonzales (from Columbia). The cool part is that our zone leaders just so happen to be in the Fussa area (basically tiny America) which is where the Fussa Air Force base is, so we got to talk to a lot of Americans. All of them were also in the Air Force so it was a way cool experience. I hope I will be able to serve in that area one day down the road. Anyway, I will move on to one of the miracles we saw while I

Another Week of Miracles๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต⛩๐ŸŒ‹ (Week 23)

Another Week of Miracles๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต⛩ ็š†ใ•ใ‚“ใ“ใ‚“ใซใกใฏ! Another great week in Japan! I'll catch you up on what we've been up to real quick. Lots of housing, even more streeting, and that's about it. Kunitachi is tough area for dendo so we have to spend a lot of time finding people to teach, but our finding efforts have not been in vain. This past week we have been able to find several new potential investigators and one golden investigator. Our golden investigator's name is Yuuki san. He called us up on Tuesday and said he wanted to come to our Eikaiwa (English class) in Kunitachi and set up his own first meeting with us for Thursday , all in perfect English. So Thursday rolls around and we meet up with him for about an hour before Eikaiwa. We had never met this guy before so we planned to just do some "get to know you", find out his expectations for our meetings, and set our expectations for our meetings. It turns out, he is totally gold. He has done a little bit of res

Sweet Home Kunitachi (Week 22)

Sweet Home Kunitachi๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต ็š†ใ•ใ‚“ใ“ใ‚“ใซใกใฏ! Hope everyone had a great week! This past week, basically everything I know changed. To start with, the new missionary schedule went into play for Tokyo South Mission this week. It is pretty fantastic. It allows missionaries to be a lot more flexible with their schedule so now we can study at less productive times of the day and dendo at the good times. Next, I'm now in a new area called Kunitachi with a new companion, Elder Duke. He is a Hawaii boy and pretty chill. A bit of a transition from Elder Dowdle, my previous companion. Anyway, I think our companionship will go far. As for Kunitachi, it's not quite the promised land of Fujisawa, but I think it has some potential. The place we live is a little rough, but it has a roof and keeps us from freezing so that's good. On top of that, I pretty much white-washed into Kunitachi (Note from Barry - white-wash is a missionary term that basically means starting over in an area). We only have

Transfer 3๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต๐ŸŒ‹ (Week 21)

็š†ใ•ใ‚“ใ“ใ‚“ใซใกใฏ! Hope everyone had a great week this past week. This week has definitely been one of change for me and all the other missionaries out there in the world. But, I will start from the beginning. This past week, Elder Dowdle and I haven't had much time to do any dendo (finding/making contacts), but that's okay because all that time was filled with lessons. Some fell through, some went really well! The whole nine yards. One of those that went really well was a guy named Mitsuru san. He is in his 30s but looks about 19 with his pants all saggy and his hat turned sideways, lol. He's a homie. Anyway, we gave him a tour of the church and taught him about who God is and how we can talk to God through prayer. He thought everything was way awesome, especially the baptismal font, the chapel, and the fact that God is our Heavenly Father. Total ้‡‘ไบบ (literally means gold person, but missionaries use it for golden investigators - someone who is prepared to accept the gospel). Way co
