Time flies when you're having fun!⛩ (Week 37)

Hello! Hope everyone had a great week! Die to the fact that today was temple p-day and some iPad problems, there is like zero time to write. I'll keep it brief. This week was a blast. Lots of fun events. One way cool miracle we saw was last Tuesday, Elder Ramos and I biked out a ways to visit a random PI in our area book. Long story short, he was there. In fact it looked like no one has been there in a pretty long time. We decided to house the area any way to see if we could find our guy. With not a whole lot of success, we decided to head back home. As we began to walk back to the bikes, we walked by a small apartment complex that I felt like we should give a look. Of course we did so and didn't see much success at first, but on the very last door, we housed into a young mom who was searching for more in life and for her family. What a miracle! I love being on a mission. It's tough: people get angry at us, it's hot, crazy humid, white shirts and ties, and I wouldn

Into the Forest🌲⛩🚶 (Week 36)

皆さんこんにちは! Hope everyone had another great week! We have been crazy busy this past week and will continue to be busy this week so that's exciting. To start with, last Monday, we got to go to Yokota Airforce base and do some shopping for American stuff. It was an amazing experience. I mostly stocked up on American cereal. Good stuff. On Tuesday we had district meeting and then a little bit of dendo time. On Wednesday we had Zone Meeting in Fussa which is always fun and then Eikaiwa that night. On Thursday and Friday we had splits. I had the privilege to go on splits with the great Elder Mori. His name literally means forest in Japanese, hence the name of this weekly email lol. We had a great time, learned a lot, and talked to lots of interesting people. On Saturday , we had a full day of dendo and then topped it off with a fantastic game of ping pong at game night at the end. On Sunday , we had a wonderful Sacrament meeting and got to hear from a returned missionary who just got

Australians, Donuts, and More! (Week 35)

皆さんこんにちは! Hope everyone had a great week! I can't believe it's already Monday again! It seems like I just wrote home and now here we are again. Elder Ramos and I have been way busy this week with following up with all our new investigator friends and trying to find more new ones. A lot happened but I don't have a whole lot of time to write this week so I'll share one of the many miracles we were able to see. Last Wednesday, we had a appointment scheduled to go to dinner and teach a lesson with one of our friends who was found several weeks ago. We showed up to the place where we were supposed to meet and ended getting stood up. So our friend didn't show up, but we decided to do a little bit of Streeting around the area to make the most of time. As we were Streeting, we found some friendly college students who obviously weren't Japanese. Turns out, they were from Australia but they are studying at a near by college for several months. We introduced ourselves as m

The Portato🥔🚲⛩ (Week 34)

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great week this week. Elder Ramos and I have had a week like no other here in Kunitachi. We have been together for a solid 3 days now and have seen crazy miracles everywhere. Thursday was our first day together and we found 2 new investigators. On Friday , we didn't find any new investigators, but we did find several potential investigators. On Saturday , we found three more new investigators. On Sunday , we found another new investigator, for a grand total of 6 new investigators and several more PI's in 3 days. We were also able to meet with one of our other investigators who has been crazy busy recently and had a great lesson. Hopefully we can continue to meet a little more often and help him find the light that comes through the gospel of Jesus Christ. As far as I see it, that is nothing short of a miracle. Elder Ramos and I have been working hard and working well together. He is possibly one the strangest and most scatter-brained peop

Transfer 5! (Week 33)

Hello everyone! Hope everyone has had a fantastic week! Where does the time even go? It seems like just a few weeks ago I reported to the MTC and now here we are about to be five transfers into Japan. Just crazy. As far as transfers go, the big news is that I won't be transferring from the wonderful area of Kunitachi, but I can't same the same for my companion. Elder Yara will be transferring to Odawara and my new companion will be Elder Ramos. I met Elder Ramos once before when we hiked Mt. Takao several weeks ago. He seems way cool so I am excited for this upcoming transfer! Also excited to be in Kunitachi again. The Ward members are just so great here. Recently we have had a lesson and a meal every week and we are already almost fully scheduled for the month of May as well! Exciting! Great people, great food. What more could you ask for? For those that don't know (because I haven't written in 2 weeks ), about two weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. Wh

Temple P-Day (Week 32)

Note from Barry (catching up for last week): Dylan had a temple P-day this week and said he didn't have time to write an email, but he did send a quick note to His mother and I to let us know that he is doing fine and that he received the vitamins and supplements that we sent to help boost his immune system.  We also received a quick note from a retired American doctor who lives in Japan and serves as a medical consultant for the missionaries.  He said that Elder Sadler saw a doctor on Friday who specializes in Bell's palsy and that everything is progressing as normal.  He is taking an antiviral and some vitamin B. Thank you for your continued prayers. Here is a picture that another missionary's mother posted on Facebook this week:
