Time flies when you're having fun!⛩ (Week 37)

Hello! Hope everyone had a great week! Die to the fact that today was temple p-day and some iPad problems, there is like zero time to write. I'll keep it brief. This week was a blast. Lots of fun events. One way cool miracle we saw was last Tuesday, Elder Ramos and I biked out a ways to visit a random PI in our area book. Long story short, he was there. In fact it looked like no one has been there in a pretty long time. We decided to house the area any way to see if we could find our guy. With not a whole lot of success, we decided to head back home. As we began to walk back to the bikes, we walked by a small apartment complex that I felt like we should give a look. Of course we did so and didn't see much success at first, but on the very last door, we housed into a young mom who was searching for more in life and for her family. What a miracle!

I love being on a mission. It's tough: people get angry at us, it's hot, crazy humid, white shirts and ties, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We see miracles everyday. I love all my family and friends out there in the world. You guys are the best. I wouldn't have made it here without you. Keep up the good work! 愛しています!

Happy Easter! (Week 31)

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a great Easter! This is not really a weekly email and I will get straight to the point. This past week has definitely been an eventful one. Last Friday, I was diagnosed with this thing called Bell's Palsy. Scary. Last Wednesday, the right side of my lip was feeling a little weird and by Thursday , I lost all control of the muscle in the right side of my face. On Friday , I received a priesthood blessing and went to the doctor to get it checked out. It was definitely an expensive day. Had to see a nerve specialist, get a MRI and all that fun stuff. The bad news is, I have zero control of the muscle in the right side of my face and I'm on some meds for this week. Good news is, in a couple months I should be all good. Apparently it is due to a bit of a virus I've had recently on top of the stresses of being a missionary and that caused a bit of minor nerve damage. So I'm sorry in advance for all of my pics with no smiles in them thes

MTC Week 5

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week! This week in the MTC has been great! Last Wednesday we got our new kohai (1st 3 week missionaries). They are great, and remind me a lot of when I first came in. Time really flies! We will be dai-senpai (3rd 3 week missionaries) in 6 days . [Note from Barry:  I looked up the translation of kohai, senpai, and dai-senpai.  Here's what I gather:  Missionaires going to Japan are in the MTC for about 9 weeks.  Every 3 weeks a new group of missionaries to Japan comes in. kohai = junior student (first 3 weeks in the MTC) senpai = advanced student or upperclassman (2nd 3 weeks in the MTC) dai = great or big, so dai-senpai = the most senior students (last 3 weeks)] Last Friday marked our one month mark. Only 23 left in the mission, and time is just getting faster and faster. Saturday marked our half way point in our MTC experience. The first 2 or 3 weeks were rough, but these past few have been great. The five other eld

The Beginning of the End ⛩ (Week 97)

Have you ever just walked outside and been like, wow, you know, it’s really really hot out here and it probably can’t get any hotter than this? And then you walk out the next day and realize it got even hotter... We’ll, if I had to sum up our week this past week, that’s how I’d describe it. Hachioji truly is 太陽の町. It’s been rough, but we’re hanging in there and having some fun along the way. In other news, this past week was transfers, and there has been some major changes. First off, I’m still here in Hachioji (blessings from Heaven), but Elder Gill transferred to my old area Yokosuka, and my new companion is the one and only Elder Matsunaga from Yamaguchi-Ken. On top of that, our zone has doubled in size and now we cover the entire Machida Stake rather than just the western half. Yea, I just thought last transfer was busy. We’ve been running around like chickens with our heads cut off working with Stake leaders, organizing all our districts, planning zone conference, and coordinatin
