MTC Week 6

Well, week 6 in the MTC was pretty great! Last p-day was our last TRC with Americans. This week and next week, we get to teach over Skype to people in Japan! Super excited about that! Hopefully we can get our lesson across in our broken Japanese... On Thursday , Jones Chōrō and I taught one of our investigators, Ota San, about sacrament meeting and were able to have him attend the following Sunday ! That same day, we studied Helaman 5 in class, which I would highly recommend taking a look through. On Friday , we taught our other investigator, Aoi San, about Seisan Kai (Sacrament meeting) as well and she was able to attend with us the following Sunday as well! Saturday was pretty uneventful. We did not have any lessons scheduled so we spent a lot of time prepping for this week. We did however, play a mad game of beach volleyball during exercise time. We got our zone's top 6 vs the other Japanese zone's top 6, and even though keeping score is against the rules,

MTC Week 5

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week! This week in the MTC has been great! Last Wednesday we got our new kohai (1st 3 week missionaries). They are great, and remind me a lot of when I first came in. Time really flies! We will be dai-senpai (3rd 3 week missionaries) in 6 days . [Note from Barry:  I looked up the translation of kohai, senpai, and dai-senpai.  Here's what I gather:  Missionaires going to Japan are in the MTC for about 9 weeks.  Every 3 weeks a new group of missionaries to Japan comes in. kohai = junior student (first 3 weeks in the MTC) senpai = advanced student or upperclassman (2nd 3 weeks in the MTC) dai = great or big, so dai-senpai = the most senior students (last 3 weeks)] Last Friday marked our one month mark. Only 23 left in the mission, and time is just getting faster and faster. Saturday marked our half way point in our MTC experience. The first 2 or 3 weeks were rough, but these past few have been great. The five other eld

MTC Week 4

Well, week 4 was great! Time really flies when you're having fun, and this past week has been a lot of fun! My district has really become my new family and even though the language is tough, I have really had fun with it this past week and learned a lot! Me and Jones Chōrō have been teaching two investigators every day for the past week though and that has been a little stressful trying to prepare lessons in Japanese that fast. On top of that, we are no longer allowed to prepare script sentences to read, so we have to use what we know to teach the lessons. It was really difficult at first but as we have pushed our limits, we have learned and grown a lot!     We get 20 new senkyōshi (missionaries) today! We are super excited to get our new kohai (1st 3 week senkyōshi)! So as of today, my district is no longer considered kohai, we are now senpai (2nd 3 week senkyōshi). It is crazy to think about! Time really flies! I got a small realization of how little time we really

MTC Week 3

Hey everyone! Where to start? Week 3 was great! It flew by! The end of last week was frustrating but over this conference weekend, I was able feel the spirit so strongly. This week has been really good so far! I have been on a roll with the language and our investigator lessons have gone really well! Hopefully I can keep up the streak! My district has completed week 3 in the MTC so we have officially graduated from freshman year in the MTC. We are officially senpai now! Our dai-senpai left to Japan on Monday . We miss them already. They are going to be amazing missionaries. I really grew close to a couple of them. Nettleton Chōrō was one of those. He and I are very  alike, with a good sense of humor! Another one was McDonald Chōrō. He trained in Taekwondo all the way up until he left for his mission. We got the chance to spar a couple times and run through forms together. I didn't realize how much I missed it! And McDonald Chōrō is going to Tokyo South, so we might be companion
