One For the Books🇯🇵🏆⛩ (Week 101)

This past weeks has definitely been one for the books. A lot has happened and we don’t have a whole lot of time to write today so I’ll cover the highlights.

1. Last Monday, we had Zone p-day and zone blitz over in Machida. Got to ball up a little bit on the court and top it off with some family history dendo that night. We asked everyone to prepare and bring their own pedigree chart and then a couple blank ones to hand out. It was a lot of fun and a huge blessing to be able to use my own family stories to invite the people of Japan to come unto Christ.

2. Tuesday, we had a combined Kofu and Hachioji District Meeting. Had lots of good trainings and learned a lot. Also had the opportunity to write a gospel haiku. Anyone who knows me, knows that language arts isn’t my specialty, but I think it turned out pretty good. 善に向けて、悔い改めを、清めなり

3. On Wednesday we taught a lesson to our friend Sanosaka San. Talked a lot about the gospel of Jesus Christ and how faith leads to repentance and repentance leads to baptism. It was way spiritual and we were able to set a baptismal date with him for September 16th. He’s doing way well and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with him.

4. Thursday, we had splits with the AP’s and I had the opportunity to work with my good friend Elder Handly. We decided that we had to go hard for our last splits and eat like kings, so that’s what we did. We hit up a way nice yakiniku place in Kichijoji and ordered a high-end, all-you-can-eat, course of deliciousness and joy. Nice on the tastebuds, not so nice on the wallet, but definitely a good time.

5. Saturday, we went right back to Kichijoji and had a big conference with Elder Stevenson of the Quorum of the 12. Turns out, he served a mission in Japan and speaks Japanese. Fun connection. Anyway, we got some good training on the Doctrine of the Kingdom and how to bring the doctrine to the people of Japan.

6. This past Sunday, I finally turned 20! Honest feels just the same, but I’m gonna miss the good teenage years. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. It was a great day of dendo.

And that’s all folks! The work is sweet and the Lord is good! Hope everyone has a great week! Love you all!

Set Apart

On Saturday September 10th, 2016 Dylan was set apart as a full time missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by our stake president, Peter M. Johnson.  There were a lot of family members there and it was an exciting and emotional day.

MTC Week 1

Wednesday September 21, 2016 My p-day in the MTC is every Wednesday so expect emails then. I can read emails any day but I can only reply on p-day. I will admit, the first week of The MTC was really really tough. It was incredibly frustrating trying to learn the language, and trying to adapt to my new, very scheduled lifestyle. Since Sunday, I've been able to settle in a little more though and come to terms with having to be patient with myself as I learn the language and further learn the Gospel. On our second day in the MTC, we received our first investigator, Ohira san, who we have been teaching in Japanese! The first lesson was a total bomb shell, but as we have learned to stop trying to rely on ourselves and our own teaching skill, and start relying on the Spirit to teach, we have seen much success in just these few days. My companion is Jones Chōrō. We are not very much alike at all, but we work well together and generally keep each other in balance. Chab Chōrō is our dis...
