AP for a day🇯🇵🏆⛩ (Week 44)

Konnichiwa! How was everyone's week? I can't believe it's already p-day again. It feels like I just wrote! Elder Palomino and I have been way busy this past week and it has been quite the adventure. Last Monday we went to Yokohama as a District. Ate ate "La Salsa", hung out at Landmark tower, saw the Pokémon center, and took some sweet pictures. If you ever decide to come to Japan, I would recommend Yokohama. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, we just did the normal missionary stuff like walking around and talking to all kinds of people. Always fun. On Friday, we got to go up to Kichijoji on splits with the AP's (Assistants to the President). Elder Palomino and Elder Hemi went with a guy they baptized last year to the temple for his first time. I wasn't there, but I'm sure it was a way cool experience haha. Meanwhile, I got to go on splits with  Elder Nelson (my trainer's trainer (my grandfather)) and Elder Gonzales (our newest AP, who arrived the same day). It was a way cool experience, especially because the AP's are generally considered to be the best of the best, and they did not disappoint. We talked to tons of people and found several new investigators. Good stuff. We spent that night in Kichijoji and headed back home Saturday morning. We then had a huge missionary blitz with all the missionaries from the Yokohama North and South zones. We were able to talk to tons of people there as well. It's been a good week for dendo my friends.

One of my lessons learned this week has definitely been the importance of working with the members. Church leaders say over and over again that member-missionary work is the best way, but sometimes we still fall into the habit of missionaries feeling like it's their job only to find people to teach and member just kinda do their thing and never invite anyone. As Elder Palomino and I have been doing our missionary thing this, we have been visiting members homes nearly every day and
inviting them to invite their friends. As missionaries serving on a base, we are very limited as to what we can do to find people to teach so our biggest resource is the members! Luckily, we have the best
members in like the whole world in our Ward here in Yokosuka. We have been able to meet and talk to so many people that are found through the help of the Ward members. I guess what I am getting at here is that, for all you missionaries out there who are reading this, don't be so selfish as to think that finding people is your job only. Talk to and work with the members! They are our greatest resource. And for all you members out there, it's not the missionaries job to do all the finding. You know the people around you far better than anyone else. Go out and invite! When everyone works together, we will see miracles.

Thank you for all the wonderful emails. I love all of you and love hearing from home. And yes I love all you missionaries out there who write me as well lol. Everyone keep on keepin' on. This is Elder
Sadler, signing off until next week. 皆さんを愛しています!

Typhoons, Lady’s Baseball, and Zone Conference⛩🇯🇵 (Week 98)

Well, it’s been quite the week over here in the Land of the Rising Sun. Once again, we’ve been stretched pretty thin with not a whole lot of time to come up for air, but it’s been a blast and we’ve been blessed to see all kinds of miracles. To start with, the beginning of last week was all meetings and planning for Zone Conference this past Thursday . Elder Matsunaga and I and the STL’s gave a zone training on becoming experts in PMG which went really well and lined up perfectly with President Warnick’s trainings, and then Elder McDonald and I did a musical number with President Warnick in guitar which went as well as it could with zero practice lol. Either way though, we sang “I’ll go where you want me to go” and the Spirit was strong, so that’s all that matters. Next pretty big event this past week was our typhoon this past Saturday . We talked to some pretty concerned Japanese people and got lots of calls from leadership, but everything was completely fine. I tried explain...

Thanks for the Ride⛩🏆 (Week 102 - Last P-day!!!)

Today is a day of mixed emotions. As we come to the end of this two year adventure they call a mission, my heart is filled with nothing but gratitude and joy. The past two years have been an experience like no other, but I’m just grateful that the Lord saw fit to let me be a part of it and see his hand bless the lives of folks through me. There is a quote I saw once that I think sums things up pretty well. “Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. Most putts don’t drop. Most beef is tough. Most children grow up to be just people. Most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration. Most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old-time rail journey: delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.” It has been truly h...

Life’s a Fiesta! (Week 96)

Well, another week and another transfer have come to an end. It’s always crazy to see how fast time flies. This transfer definitely ended with a bang though. We’ve traversed hill, valley, and dale running back and forth from meetings, visiting members, dance practices, the doctor, and various exchanges throughout the week. Needless to say, it’s been busy, but we’ve been having a blast. So this past Saturday , we had a big mission wide event that earned the name of “Fiesta”. Basically, everyone got together, had a big party, and was able to learn little bit about South American cultures and Family History along the way. The events were broken up into different countries including, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and few others. I got roped into performing with team Brazil and let me tell you, it was a blast. We had a couple different showcases including, soccer, capoeira, and some Brazilian jujitsu. The soccer was a questionable, but the other two were right up my alley. Overall, we had lik...
