It’s been a week 💸 (Week 90)

Well, can’t believe another week, another month, and another transfer has come to an end. The time flies, but it’s been a blast. The past week flew by and I can’t remember too much of it, but I’ll try to hit the big points.

First big point was last p-day. We got together with Hodogaya District and made our way up to Machida to hit up the malls and a local Squirrel Park. Now Elder Jaeckel and I worked really diligently to organize all the plans and make sure the schedule worked out, but as we all know, things never go according to plan. I won’t go into the details of exactly what happened, but I will say that there was some sprinting across the city of Machida to find some lost missionaries and then sprinting all the way back across to catch a bus who’s stops were few and far between. Anyway, everyone ended making it on time. Not gonna lie, I was a little skeptical about the squirrel park to start with but it ended being a lot of fun feeding and holding squirrels. Definitely not something you see every day. Also there was the biggest tortoise I’ve ever seen. It was a good time and we also had fun doing some shopping around afterwards.

Next big event was Fujisawa East Zone Blitz this past Friday. We had the entire zone meet up at Totsuka station and everyone go out and talk to everybody. We saw lots of miracles and had a great time hitting the streets with the other missionaries. One awesome thing that I was able to experience was actually not during the blitz but on the way home. Here in Japan, we do the majority of our traveling on trains and on the ride home I sat down right next to a guy who way playing Shogi on his phone. Shogi is a Japanese game with a similar set up and objective to chess. As chance may have it, I have been able to learn the rules and some of the fun facts about Shogi over the course of my stay here in Japan and that created an opportunity to have a great conversation with this guy. It has been awesome to learn the culture of Japan and be able to connect with Japanese people on more than just a normal conversation level.

Third major event this week was transfer calls. After a not too long two transfers here in Yamato, the adventure will be coming to an end and making its way over to the promised land of Hachioji. It’s gonna be sad to say goodbye but exciting to meet new people and work with my new companion from Northern Ireland. His name is Elder Gill and we were in the MTC together a while back. It’s gonna be exciting!

Love you all! Hope everyone has a great week!

Typhoons, Lady’s Baseball, and Zone Conference⛩🇯🇵 (Week 98)

Well, it’s been quite the week over here in the Land of the Rising Sun. Once again, we’ve been stretched pretty thin with not a whole lot of time to come up for air, but it’s been a blast and we’ve been blessed to see all kinds of miracles. To start with, the beginning of last week was all meetings and planning for Zone Conference this past Thursday . Elder Matsunaga and I and the STL’s gave a zone training on becoming experts in PMG which went really well and lined up perfectly with President Warnick’s trainings, and then Elder McDonald and I did a musical number with President Warnick in guitar which went as well as it could with zero practice lol. Either way though, we sang “I’ll go where you want me to go” and the Spirit was strong, so that’s all that matters. Next pretty big event this past week was our typhoon this past Saturday . We talked to some pretty concerned Japanese people and got lots of calls from leadership, but everything was completely fine. I tried explain...

Thanks for the Ride⛩🏆 (Week 102 - Last P-day!!!)

Today is a day of mixed emotions. As we come to the end of this two year adventure they call a mission, my heart is filled with nothing but gratitude and joy. The past two years have been an experience like no other, but I’m just grateful that the Lord saw fit to let me be a part of it and see his hand bless the lives of folks through me. There is a quote I saw once that I think sums things up pretty well. “Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. Most putts don’t drop. Most beef is tough. Most children grow up to be just people. Most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration. Most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old-time rail journey: delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.” It has been truly h...

Life’s a Fiesta! (Week 96)

Well, another week and another transfer have come to an end. It’s always crazy to see how fast time flies. This transfer definitely ended with a bang though. We’ve traversed hill, valley, and dale running back and forth from meetings, visiting members, dance practices, the doctor, and various exchanges throughout the week. Needless to say, it’s been busy, but we’ve been having a blast. So this past Saturday , we had a big mission wide event that earned the name of “Fiesta”. Basically, everyone got together, had a big party, and was able to learn little bit about South American cultures and Family History along the way. The events were broken up into different countries including, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and few others. I got roped into performing with team Brazil and let me tell you, it was a blast. We had a couple different showcases including, soccer, capoeira, and some Brazilian jujitsu. The soccer was a questionable, but the other two were right up my alley. Overall, we had lik...
