Transfer 8: Training?πŸŽ‰πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸ’Έ (Week 52)

Minasan, konnichiwa! Hope everyone had a great week! Yokosuka has been bumping this past week and we're loving it. There have been a few changes this transfer and they have all been awesome. For one, no one in the district got transferred (other than Elder Taniguchi who will be leaving today and flying to the MTC tomorrow)! And secondly, my new companion is Elder Thomson, who is fresh out of the MTC! I was super excited to find out that I will train this transfer and even more excited when I met Elder Thomson. He's a hard worker and we get along really well so I'm looking forward to this transfer together. We have some investigators starting to come out of the woodworks and we are
hoping to see a baptism together!

This past week was super busy though. Last Monday, we took a relatively chill p-day and went up to Yokohama and did some shopping around. I bought a pretty nice hat from H&M and we got to check out the PokΓ©mon Center. I wanted to buy something, but it is insanely over priced, so I just had to exercise some self-discipline and only look haha. It was fun though. On Tuesday, we had apartment cleaning and transfer packing. Always fun. It seems like no matter how many times we've cleaned apartments, we always find some random stuff that we didn't know we had haha. That night, we taught Japanese Class (which went really well) and were able to set up an appointment with 2 new
investigators who we will meet with tonight! Exciting stuff. Wednesday, was pretty good as well. Just lots and lots of finding time. We were pretty exhausted by the time we came home. On Thursday,
we went to Kichijoji to pick up Elder Thomson. Because Yokosuka is so far, we had to wake up super early and catch a ridiculously busy train straight into Tokyo. That bit wasn't fun, but once we arrived in Kichijoji, we had some great Trainer trainings and got to meet our new companions. Also, a delicious lunch in the mission home. Doesn't get much better than that haha. After that, came home and went straight to Dinner and English class. On Friday, we did some weekly planning and then had Popeye's dinner with the Ortegon family (they are the best). On Saturday, we had District meeting, went to get Elder Thomson a bike (which didn't work out and we'll have to go again this week), and
attended the Stake Priesthood broadcast. Someone was supposed to bring ice cream afterwards, but that fell through, so it was a little disappointing. Great broadcast though. On Sunday, we had a great
church meeting. After church, we were able to attend a baptism for one of the youth in the Ward. It was a way awesome experience and serving as a missionary has definitely given me a new perspective on the importance of baptism. Another victory in the Kingdom of God! After the baptism, we had a dinner appointment with the Bradford family (they are also the best). They are a way cool couple. They are both in their early 50s and probably the best looking 50 year olds I've ever seen. Anyway, they are way nice and it was way fun. It was a good week, and this upcoming week looks to be just as busy!

So grateful for the opportunity I have to be a missionary here in Japan. Also grateful for the opportunity to serve as a trainer this transfer. Though we are far from perfect and our offering may be
small, through the infinite Atonement of Jesus Christ, we are able to accomplish the impossible. I have seen it in my life and I know that everyone can see it in their own lives. When the Savior says his Sacrifice is sufficient, he means it! Trust in Him and He will guide you through all of the obstacles that life has to offer.

I love all of you out there who are my support. I could never do it without you and I'll never be able to thank you enough. Keep working hard and being the best! 愛しています!

Typhoons, Lady’s Baseball, and Zone Conference⛩πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ (Week 98)

Well, it’s been quite the week over here in the Land of the Rising Sun. Once again, we’ve been stretched pretty thin with not a whole lot of time to come up for air, but it’s been a blast and we’ve been blessed to see all kinds of miracles. To start with, the beginning of last week was all meetings and planning for Zone Conference this past Thursday . Elder Matsunaga and I and the STL’s gave a zone training on becoming experts in PMG which went really well and lined up perfectly with President Warnick’s trainings, and then Elder McDonald and I did a musical number with President Warnick in guitar which went as well as it could with zero practice lol. Either way though, we sang “I’ll go where you want me to go” and the Spirit was strong, so that’s all that matters. Next pretty big event this past week was our typhoon this past Saturday . We talked to some pretty concerned Japanese people and got lots of calls from leadership, but everything was completely fine. I tried explain...

Thanks for the Ride⛩πŸ† (Week 102 - Last P-day!!!)

Today is a day of mixed emotions. As we come to the end of this two year adventure they call a mission, my heart is filled with nothing but gratitude and joy. The past two years have been an experience like no other, but I’m just grateful that the Lord saw fit to let me be a part of it and see his hand bless the lives of folks through me. There is a quote I saw once that I think sums things up pretty well. “Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. Most putts don’t drop. Most beef is tough. Most children grow up to be just people. Most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration. Most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old-time rail journey: delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.” It has been truly h...

One For the BooksπŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸ†⛩ (Week 101)

This past weeks has definitely been one for the books. A lot has happened and we don’t have a whole lot of time to write today so I’ll cover the highlights. 1. Last Monday, we had Zone p-day and zone blitz over in Machida. Got to ball up a little bit on the court and top it off with some family history dendo that night. We asked everyone to prepare and bring their own pedigree chart and then a couple blank ones to hand out. It was a lot of fun and a huge blessing to be able to use my own family stories to invite the people of Japan to come unto Christ. 2. Tuesday, we had a combined Kofu and Hachioji District Meeting. Had lots of good trainings and learned a lot. Also had the opportunity to write a gospel haiku. Anyone who knows me, knows that language arts isn’t my specialty, but I think it turned out pretty good. 善に向けて、悔い改めを、清めγͺγ‚Š 3. On Wednesday we taught a lesson to our friend Sanosaka San. Talked a lot about the gospel of Jesus Christ and how faith leads to repentance and repentanc...
