Sending Comp #2 to America ๐Ÿ›ซ (Week 51)

Hello everyone! Things are suspenseful here in Yokosuka as the district patiently awaits transfer emails today. We have some ideas bouncing around about who is going where, but in all honesty it's still pretty up in the air. As for my companionship though, Elder Taniguchi will be going to America for the MTC this transfer. That makes two missionaries that I have sent to America from Yokosuka haha. I hope both of them enjoy every minute of it!

In other news, this past week has been great! Elder Taniguchi and I have been working hard, visiting members, and finding people to teach. Unfortunately, we are not very good at remembering to take pictures (sorry Mom), but I will give the highlights. Last Monday, we went to Kamakura as a half district (because the sisters were lame and didn't come). It was way fun. I bought a sweet pair of nunchucks and we saw the biggest statue of Buddha that I have ever seen. Like probably 50 feet tall. It was the real deal. On Tuesday, we were able to contact our homie, Vu (we found him two weeks ago), but he was still busy. We were able to briefly introduce the restoration to him though and we
will follow up on that tonight! On Wednesday, I went on splits with Elder McDonald. It was pretty fun, besides the blazing hot sun. We were able to visit a couple potential investigators and less actives
all the way down in Misakiguchi (the very bottom of our area). Also got to have a lesson with the most fashionable Japanese man I have ever met. His name is Matsuda san and he is a total homie. We had a good conversation about the Book of Mormon and baptism and it went really well. Last Thursday was the 31st so of course we went to Baskin Robbins for 31 percent off ice cream. It was the best haha. On Friday, we had dinner with a Ward member in his 16th floor penthouse apartment. On top of that, he is Samoan and made us some way good island food. It doesn't get much better than that! On Saturday, we had the opportunity to go to a BBQ with the Japanese Ward members. There was lots of meat including deer meat and Boar meat. Let's just say, the Japanese don't quite know how to do BBQ's like Americans, but it was pretty good haha. On Sunday, we had a great service at church and then two back to back meal appointments in the evening. I'm not entirely sure how I managed to eat so much, but through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, anything is possible. Aaaaand that brings us to today.

So grateful for the opportunity I have to be a missionary here in Yokosuka sharing the greatest message to ever be heard on the Earth. And that message is that Jesus lives! He is our savior and Redeemer. Though him, we can be forgiven of our sins. Through him, we can make back to our Father in Heaven. Through him, all is made possible. What a blessing it is to share such a wonderful message!

Thank you for the love and support of everyone out there. I greatly appreciated all the wonderful emails this past week. I love you and more importantly, the Savior loves you. Keep working hard and I look forward to hearing from all of you next week! I love you!

Happy Easter! (Week 31)

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a great Easter! This is not really a weekly email and I will get straight to the point. This past week has definitely been an eventful one. Last Friday, I was diagnosed with this thing called Bell's Palsy. Scary. Last Wednesday, the right side of my lip was feeling a little weird and by Thursday , I lost all control of the muscle in the right side of my face. On Friday , I received a priesthood blessing and went to the doctor to get it checked out. It was definitely an expensive day. Had to see a nerve specialist, get a MRI and all that fun stuff. The bad news is, I have zero control of the muscle in the right side of my face and I'm on some meds for this week. Good news is, in a couple months I should be all good. Apparently it is due to a bit of a virus I've had recently on top of the stresses of being a missionary and that caused a bit of minor nerve damage. So I'm sorry in advance for all of my pics with no smiles in them thes

The Beginning of the End ⛩ (Week 97)

Have you ever just walked outside and been like, wow, you know, it’s really really hot out here and it probably can’t get any hotter than this? And then you walk out the next day and realize it got even hotter... We’ll, if I had to sum up our week this past week, that’s how I’d describe it. Hachioji truly is ๅคช้™ฝใฎ็”บ. It’s been rough, but we’re hanging in there and having some fun along the way. In other news, this past week was transfers, and there has been some major changes. First off, I’m still here in Hachioji (blessings from Heaven), but Elder Gill transferred to my old area Yokosuka, and my new companion is the one and only Elder Matsunaga from Yamaguchi-Ken. On top of that, our zone has doubled in size and now we cover the entire Machida Stake rather than just the western half. Yea, I just thought last transfer was busy. We’ve been running around like chickens with our heads cut off working with Stake leaders, organizing all our districts, planning zone conference, and coordinatin

MTC Week 5

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week! This week in the MTC has been great! Last Wednesday we got our new kohai (1st 3 week missionaries). They are great, and remind me a lot of when I first came in. Time really flies! We will be dai-senpai (3rd 3 week missionaries) in 6 days . [Note from Barry:  I looked up the translation of kohai, senpai, and dai-senpai.  Here's what I gather:  Missionaires going to Japan are in the MTC for about 9 weeks.  Every 3 weeks a new group of missionaries to Japan comes in. kohai = junior student (first 3 weeks in the MTC) senpai = advanced student or upperclassman (2nd 3 weeks in the MTC) dai = great or big, so dai-senpai = the most senior students (last 3 weeks)] Last Friday marked our one month mark. Only 23 left in the mission, and time is just getting faster and faster. Saturday marked our half way point in our MTC experience. The first 2 or 3 weeks were rough, but these past few have been great. The five other eld
