The day I became a sailor 🌊⛵ (Week 39)

ηš†γ•γ‚“γ“γ‚“γ«γ‘γ―! γŠε…ƒζ°—γ§γ™γ‹? Hope everyone had a great week! Thing have been crazy here in Kunitachi this past week. Elder Ramos and I have been working hard and trying to finish up this transfer with a bang. We have seen so many miracles this week. Almost all of the people we have been working with a lot recently are seeing amazing progress. Being able to see God come into the lives of those we have been working so hard to help is just an amazing experience. For anyone who has not served a mission, I would recommend 10/10.

This past week has been way busy for us. Last Monday for p-day, we went to Yokohama and went to the Trick Art museum. It's basically a museum full of optical illusions and interactive art which calls for some sweet pictures. We also had the opportunity to visit Dr. Fish. It's basically a bunch of tiny fish in a small pool that you put your feet in and they nibble away. It's a very strange sensation at the beginning, but I don't think my feet have ever been so smooth in my life after that lol. That pretty much took up our whole day, but it was way fun. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we did some finding, taught one of our awesome investigators (who is like 80 years old and was able to pray for the first time in his life (how awesome is that!)), and taught Eikaiwa, which is always a blast. Thursday, we had weekly planning, dinner with an American pilot who is in Japan for a week, and Basketball with our other investigator in Kichijoji (where I destroyed my knee) which was way fun. On Friday, we stayed in all day because I couldn't walk but we got some good study time in. On Saturday, we had a Ward softball activity on the Yokota AF base. I threw the ball around a little bit and hit a couple home runs, but couldn't really do much running. It was fun anyway though. That night, we had dinner with the Makise family from our Ward. He is Japanese and she is from New Zealand. They speak English in the home and have the cutest kids ever. Forgot to take a picture with them, but it was way fun. On Sunday, we had a wonderful time at church and had dinner with the bishop. He also speaks way good English and was companions with Napolean Dynamite on his mission. The members in Kunitachi are the best.

And as for the other major event of this week, we had had Transfer calls! Yaaaaay! I will be transferring to Yokosuka M, which means I'll be working as a base missionary on the Yokosuka Naval base. My companion will be Elder Palomino (we were together in my first area in Fujisawa). Needless to say, I am way excited for this upcoming transfer. Working on the base with a great companion. I am definitely going to miss Kunitachi though. I have been here three transfers and really grown to love the area and love the people. Maybe one day I'll come back and visit. Other than leaving this great area, I am looking forward to getting ship-shape and working on Yokosuka Naval base. Hopefully I don't forget how to speak Japanese lol.

Sorry this email is a little long, we had a very adventurous week this past week. It's a blast and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I love you all so much and look forward to hearing from you soon!

Typhoons, Lady’s Baseball, and Zone Conference⛩πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ (Week 98)

Well, it’s been quite the week over here in the Land of the Rising Sun. Once again, we’ve been stretched pretty thin with not a whole lot of time to come up for air, but it’s been a blast and we’ve been blessed to see all kinds of miracles. To start with, the beginning of last week was all meetings and planning for Zone Conference this past Thursday . Elder Matsunaga and I and the STL’s gave a zone training on becoming experts in PMG which went really well and lined up perfectly with President Warnick’s trainings, and then Elder McDonald and I did a musical number with President Warnick in guitar which went as well as it could with zero practice lol. Either way though, we sang “I’ll go where you want me to go” and the Spirit was strong, so that’s all that matters. Next pretty big event this past week was our typhoon this past Saturday . We talked to some pretty concerned Japanese people and got lots of calls from leadership, but everything was completely fine. I tried explain...

Thanks for the Ride⛩πŸ† (Week 102 - Last P-day!!!)

Today is a day of mixed emotions. As we come to the end of this two year adventure they call a mission, my heart is filled with nothing but gratitude and joy. The past two years have been an experience like no other, but I’m just grateful that the Lord saw fit to let me be a part of it and see his hand bless the lives of folks through me. There is a quote I saw once that I think sums things up pretty well. “Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. Most putts don’t drop. Most beef is tough. Most children grow up to be just people. Most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration. Most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old-time rail journey: delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.” It has been truly h...

One For the BooksπŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸ†⛩ (Week 101)

This past weeks has definitely been one for the books. A lot has happened and we don’t have a whole lot of time to write today so I’ll cover the highlights. 1. Last Monday, we had Zone p-day and zone blitz over in Machida. Got to ball up a little bit on the court and top it off with some family history dendo that night. We asked everyone to prepare and bring their own pedigree chart and then a couple blank ones to hand out. It was a lot of fun and a huge blessing to be able to use my own family stories to invite the people of Japan to come unto Christ. 2. Tuesday, we had a combined Kofu and Hachioji District Meeting. Had lots of good trainings and learned a lot. Also had the opportunity to write a gospel haiku. Anyone who knows me, knows that language arts isn’t my specialty, but I think it turned out pretty good. 善に向けて、悔い改めを、清めγͺγ‚Š 3. On Wednesday we taught a lesson to our friend Sanosaka San. Talked a lot about the gospel of Jesus Christ and how faith leads to repentance and repentanc...
