The South Will Rise Again🔥💯 (Week 79)

Howdy howdy! Hope y’all had a mighty fine week! The past week on this side of the planet has been one of tough goodbyes but lots of excitement for the future. Last Thursday we had transfers! Unfortunately I had to say goodbye to the mountainous paradise that is Kohoku and good bye to the amazing people that live there. It wasn’t easy, but there will be quite the plethora of good times to come! After six consecutive transfers, I have officially kissed my Yokohama thunder-thighs goodbye and am now serving in the area of Yamato as zone leader in the Fujisawa east zone. Super excited for the new area and the opportunity to work with such amazing people!

Honestly, I can’t remember too much of what happened this past week. Transfer week is always a bit of a blur, but since Thursday, we have had quite the adventure. So, on Thursday, I made the transfer to Yamato and teamed up with my new companion - none other than the legendary Elder Harrison from Texas (hence the subject line of this weekly email, lol). He’s the greatest and we’re gonna have quite the ho-down together. When I arrived, we went straight to Planning. Planning for investigators and planning for the zone (we have zone Conference coming up this Wednesday so there’s plenty of planning to be done, haha). That took most of the day. On Friday, we had the opportunity of going up to Kichijoji for New District Leader/Sister Training Leader/Zone Leader training. Received lots of great revelation and it’s always a pleasure to be with President Warnick. On Saturday, we had a couple other meetings, and on Sunday, we had church. The members here are way awesome and I’m excited to work with all of them! In between all of those moments, we have been meeting with tons of people and trying to talk to as many new ones as we can. We’ve seen lots of miracles and I’m way excited for the future!

Not too much to report on this week, and amongst all the craziness, we didn’t have too much time to take pictures, but I’ll try to do better next week! All that matters is, the Church is true, missionary life is the best life ever, and I feel blessed to be a part of it. Hope everyone has a great week and sends me lots of emails about it! 愛しています!

Happy Easter! (Week 31)

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a great Easter! This is not really a weekly email and I will get straight to the point. This past week has definitely been an eventful one. Last Friday, I was diagnosed with this thing called Bell's Palsy. Scary. Last Wednesday, the right side of my lip was feeling a little weird and by Thursday , I lost all control of the muscle in the right side of my face. On Friday , I received a priesthood blessing and went to the doctor to get it checked out. It was definitely an expensive day. Had to see a nerve specialist, get a MRI and all that fun stuff. The bad news is, I have zero control of the muscle in the right side of my face and I'm on some meds for this week. Good news is, in a couple months I should be all good. Apparently it is due to a bit of a virus I've had recently on top of the stresses of being a missionary and that caused a bit of minor nerve damage. So I'm sorry in advance for all of my pics with no smiles in them thes

The Beginning of the End ⛩ (Week 97)

Have you ever just walked outside and been like, wow, you know, it’s really really hot out here and it probably can’t get any hotter than this? And then you walk out the next day and realize it got even hotter... We’ll, if I had to sum up our week this past week, that’s how I’d describe it. Hachioji truly is 太陽の町. It’s been rough, but we’re hanging in there and having some fun along the way. In other news, this past week was transfers, and there has been some major changes. First off, I’m still here in Hachioji (blessings from Heaven), but Elder Gill transferred to my old area Yokosuka, and my new companion is the one and only Elder Matsunaga from Yamaguchi-Ken. On top of that, our zone has doubled in size and now we cover the entire Machida Stake rather than just the western half. Yea, I just thought last transfer was busy. We’ve been running around like chickens with our heads cut off working with Stake leaders, organizing all our districts, planning zone conference, and coordinatin

MTC Week 5

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week! This week in the MTC has been great! Last Wednesday we got our new kohai (1st 3 week missionaries). They are great, and remind me a lot of when I first came in. Time really flies! We will be dai-senpai (3rd 3 week missionaries) in 6 days . [Note from Barry:  I looked up the translation of kohai, senpai, and dai-senpai.  Here's what I gather:  Missionaires going to Japan are in the MTC for about 9 weeks.  Every 3 weeks a new group of missionaries to Japan comes in. kohai = junior student (first 3 weeks in the MTC) senpai = advanced student or upperclassman (2nd 3 weeks in the MTC) dai = great or big, so dai-senpai = the most senior students (last 3 weeks)] Last Friday marked our one month mark. Only 23 left in the mission, and time is just getting faster and faster. Saturday marked our half way point in our MTC experience. The first 2 or 3 weeks were rough, but these past few have been great. The five other eld
