Snake Eyes🐍🇯🇵💸 (Week 73)

Welcome everyone to Elder Sadler's Transfer 11 here in the Land of the Rising Sun! It’s been quite the adventure and I am excited for the times ahead. It’s strange to think how fast time flies. We got a year and a half down and only an unspecified amount of months left that we won’t talk about to go. As much as I miss everyone at home, the mission is the greatest experience of my life. I love the people, I love the gospel, and I love the Lord. Couldn’t ask for a whole lot more.

Not too much happened this past week. Just a lot of going out into the cold and talking to as many people as we can. We did have one way cool experience though this past Monday. So we had plans to meet with our homie Reb that night. The original idea was to meet up with him either at his apartment or at the church, but due to tight schedules on both ends, we ended Meeting on the second floor of the McDonalds near Haku-Raku Station. We bought some dinner and then sat down to have a good conversation about Jesus over Big Macs and some fries. The lesson ended up going really well. Never underestimate the power of the spirit. As we were sitting there talking, surrounded by other random Japanese people and the sound of Toto's “Africa” playing in the background, we were able to testify powerfully and invite Reb to be baptized. Reb doesn’t have a baptismal date yet, but he is well on his way to the Waters of Mormon. The Lord works in mysterious ways. Whether it be giving the blind their sight, guiding missionaries through Japan, or blessing the rains down in Africa. Definitely a moment I won’t forget. Other than that, we are going to the Alex Boyé/Bless 4 concert in Kichijoji tonight so I’m pretty excited! I’ll let you all know how it goes next week!

But yea, it’s been good times. Elder Low is pretty much the best I know of and I’m looking forward to doing some wolverine hunting with him after the mission. Ask me how I’m doing, I say, “blessed”. Blessed to be here in Japan and blessed to be a child of God. 愛しています!

MTC Week 1

Wednesday September 21, 2016 My p-day in the MTC is every Wednesday so expect emails then. I can read emails any day but I can only reply on p-day. I will admit, the first week of The MTC was really really tough. It was incredibly frustrating trying to learn the language, and trying to adapt to my new, very scheduled lifestyle. Since Sunday, I've been able to settle in a little more though and come to terms with having to be patient with myself as I learn the language and further learn the Gospel. On our second day in the MTC, we received our first investigator, Ohira san, who we have been teaching in Japanese! The first lesson was a total bomb shell, but as we have learned to stop trying to rely on ourselves and our own teaching skill, and start relying on the Spirit to teach, we have seen much success in just these few days. My companion is Jones Chōrō. We are not very much alike at all, but we work well together and generally keep each other in balance. Chab Chōrō is our dis...

Little America (Week 24)

Another week of miracles in Japan! Not much time to write today, but that's okay because everything eventful that happened this week, happened within a span of like 2 days. So I'll get right to the point. Monday through Thursday was spent doing a lot of streeting and a lot of housing. On Thursday , we had zone meeting. It went really well. I was able to learn a lot and receive some personal revelation for myself as a missionary. Directly after zone meeting, Elder Duke and I got the opportunity to go on splits with the zone leaders, Elder Carrasco (from Mexico) and Elder Gonzales (from Columbia). The cool part is that our zone leaders just so happen to be in the Fussa area (basically tiny America) which is where the Fussa Air Force base is, so we got to talk to a lot of Americans. All of them were also in the Air Force so it was a way cool experience. I hope I will be able to serve in that area one day down the road. Anyway, I will move on to one of the miracles we saw while I...

Typhoons, Lady’s Baseball, and Zone Conference⛩🇯🇵 (Week 98)

Well, it’s been quite the week over here in the Land of the Rising Sun. Once again, we’ve been stretched pretty thin with not a whole lot of time to come up for air, but it’s been a blast and we’ve been blessed to see all kinds of miracles. To start with, the beginning of last week was all meetings and planning for Zone Conference this past Thursday . Elder Matsunaga and I and the STL’s gave a zone training on becoming experts in PMG which went really well and lined up perfectly with President Warnick’s trainings, and then Elder McDonald and I did a musical number with President Warnick in guitar which went as well as it could with zero practice lol. Either way though, we sang “I’ll go where you want me to go” and the Spirit was strong, so that’s all that matters. Next pretty big event this past week was our typhoon this past Saturday . We talked to some pretty concerned Japanese people and got lots of calls from leadership, but everything was completely fine. I tried explain...
