It takes (3?) to TangoπŸ’ƒπŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸŒ… (Week 61)

¿Que pasa amigos? Hope everyone had a great week! Elder Thomson and I were back at it again this past week with lots of business and lots of miracles. Because I'm not a big fan of writing though, I'll just cover the good parts!

So, we'll start with last Monday. It was a lot of fun. Elder Thomson and I trained up to Kunitachi (my previous area), met up with my trainer, Elder Dowdle, ate some of Kyo Shimai's delicious ramen, and did some shopping around. Kunitachi is pretty far so it took a while, but it was a fun. Monday night, we were doing some housing around and found a way cool guy from the Philippines. He will be out of the country until next week, but he said he would like to learn about the gospel so we will visit him again then. Tuesday was all kinds of busy. Study and prep in the morning, correlation meeting and district meeting in the afternoon, dinner with the Whittier Family, and Japanese Class in the evening. Productive day. On Wednesday, we had interviews with President Warnick. Always a great opportunity. He is very inspired and loving man and I always look forward to seeing him (sorry for all you other missionaries, JTSM's president is the best). That night, we were able to visit and sit down with Manuel! We finally delivered our package with the Book of Mormon, card, and sweets and shared a message about prayer. We invited him to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. Great lesson and a great day. Thursday, once again busy. Lesson with a PI (Potential Investigator) fell through in the morning and the rest of the day was spent with studies, preparation, weekly planning, and English class. Always an adventure. Friday was actually not so busy. We did lots of proselyting with not a lot of success. The Lord keeps us humble. Saturday, on the other hand, was bomb. First off, we had a lesson with Josh in the morning. Ended up eating lunch together and discussing the importance of the Sacrament. It went way well. Josh is a good guy and he is progressing slowly but surely. We had another lesson in the evening time with JT. The Bradford family hosted us in their home for dinner and a lesson, and let me tell you, they were both fantastic. We met JT a couple weeks ago when he called out to us on the street. Since then, he hasn't missed a Sunday (unless he has duty) and we were finally able to have a sit down lesson this week. We talked about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bradfords both shared amazing testimonies and JT received it all
really well. He even shared some of his testimony with us about how he wants to strengthen his faith and come closer to God, and he feels like he can do that through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He doesn't have a baptismal date yet, but he is well on his way.

Sunday was a bitter sweet day. Church was way good and there were some great talks and lesson given. After church, we were invited to attend choir where I can honestly say, Elder Thomson and I both tried our best haha. It was good though. After that, we had lunch with at the Nelson's with our recent convert Keimon. I always enjoy being with him. His testimony is so strong. After lunch, Elder Thomson and I became a three man companionship with Elder Ota. Unfortunately, our dear friend Elder Mori has completed his mission and he will be dearly missed. We are excited to serve in a three man with Elder Ota though. It has already been pretty fun. Being in a three man though, means that we will have to cover two areas. The English Ward and the Japanese Branch. That's a lot of church on Sunday... it'll be fun!

And that's about all to report for this past week. It's been way good. Investigators are progressing and Elder Thomson and I have hit every curveball that comes our way so far. Of course we are just the hands though; the Lord is the one swinging the bat! It been an adventure. Thank you for all the awesome emails this past week! It's always so great to hear from everybody. Hope everyone has another great week and sends me lots of emails again! I love you all!

MTC Week 1

Wednesday September 21, 2016 My p-day in the MTC is every Wednesday so expect emails then. I can read emails any day but I can only reply on p-day. I will admit, the first week of The MTC was really really tough. It was incredibly frustrating trying to learn the language, and trying to adapt to my new, very scheduled lifestyle. Since Sunday, I've been able to settle in a little more though and come to terms with having to be patient with myself as I learn the language and further learn the Gospel. On our second day in the MTC, we received our first investigator, Ohira san, who we have been teaching in Japanese! The first lesson was a total bomb shell, but as we have learned to stop trying to rely on ourselves and our own teaching skill, and start relying on the Spirit to teach, we have seen much success in just these few days. My companion is Jones Chōrō. We are not very much alike at all, but we work well together and generally keep each other in balance. Chab Chōrō is our dis...

Set Apart

On Saturday September 10th, 2016 Dylan was set apart as a full time missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by our stake president, Peter M. Johnson.  There were a lot of family members there and it was an exciting and emotional day.
