Hey everyone! This past week has been great! I am learning so much and gaining so much experience and testimony. This past week absolutely flew by (it feels like I just sent an email home)! I know the coming months and weeks will just get faster and faster! Gotta make the most of every moment, and that's what Dowdle 長老 and I have been trying to do!
Last Tuesday, we got to go to the Tokyo temple which was awesome! It's quite the experience in Japanese! On Wednesday, Tokyo got snow! It was a lot like Alabama snow where it snows but nothing sticks, it just gets real cold lol. On Thursday, we taught Eikaiwa (English class) again. We had small numbers this week but it was really good! Friday, we spent a lot of time streeting and finding which is always fun but also calls for a really long day. Saturday went really well! We went to buy me a bike but because of international card problems we weren't able to get it at that moment. Thankfully we got it figured out though, and will probably go back tomorrow or Wednesday to pick it up. It's gonna take a lot more than that to get me down! After the bike ordeal, we had a fantastic shokuji (kinda like a meal with members). The family took us to a pretty high dollar restaurant with great food. We got the party dinner which was awesome. The more we ate, the more they brought out to us! That's what I call dinner! I'm not sure what 90 percent of what I ate even was, but it was delicious! I think I can get used to Japan lol. On Sunday, we had a great Sacrament meeting and
one of our kyudosha (investigator) came to church! Afterwards, we taught another lesson and then went a little kids 3rd birthday party. Let me just say, Japanese babies are so cute! Anyway, after that, we had another shokuji. By this point, it was rainy pretty hard and we had about a 30 minute bike ride. My pants got soaked. Next time, I will be better prepared! Today, we are going to Yokohama to see landmark tower and the Pokémon training center! I'm pretty excited! This week has been packed full!
The Japanese people are great! The church members are so amazing in the Fujisawa area. We are so lucky! On the streets, most people ignore us, but the ones we do get to talk to are just great! They love when I try to speak Japanese and they love how skilled Dowdle 長老 is at speaking Japanese. We are quite the combo! The people always think we are like 25 years old as well. They are just blown away when we say we are only 18. The culture here is awesome as well! There are so many differences that would just blow an American's mind. Tokyo is the most populated city in the world, yet there is no trash or trash cans anywhere. Little kids walk home from school and go through busy train stations all by themselves with no worries. Nobody locks their doors or bikes and it's no big deal. The people are just overall very respectful of their city and each other. It is truly amazing.
Despite all the struggles, the language barrier, the culture differences, the money issues, the constant rain, and everything else, this has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I would not trade the experiences I've had for anything. I am so thankful for the opportunity I have to serve the Lord full time for two years. It is an experience like no other. My testimony has grown so much! I know I say it a lot, but I know these two years will go by fast and we have to make the most of every moment.
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to everyone!
