MTC Week 7

Good week this week! Last Wednesday we did our first Skype TRC to Japan! It was super awesome. The man we taught looked a lot like Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid. We asked him to share his favorite story from the Savior's life... We weren't quite sure what he said but it was so awesome and the spirit was so strong. We get to teach our second Skype TRC tonight! Thursday, Jones Chōrō and I got to train the new kohai, it was great. We got two new districts this past week. Training the American district was a breeze, but training the Japanese district was a little less so. Nevertheless, we got the job done! Friday, we taught our inactive member, Yamazaki Shimai. Previously, our lessons have not been going very well with her, but this lesson was the best we have ever taught. We were struggling with what to teach her, but finally just decided to go in and share our testimonies, and asked her to
share her testimony with us. The spirit was so strong in that room. Sunday was great as well! We had fantastic sacrament meeting and priesthood and Sunday school lessons. In the Sunday night devotional, we heard from none other than Richard N. Holzapful. For those that don't know who that is, he is a former mission president from the Alabama, Birmingham mission. He gave a fantastic talk about developing second nature as far as Christlike attributes and missionary skills. Monday was Halloween, and even though we are pretty limited on our "festiveness", we went all out! Many people had improv costumes and even more went trick or treating through all the dorms. Its was so much fun!

The Tuesday night devotional was absolutely amazing! We could tell something big was going down because our zone is assigned to set up the auditorium every Tuesday and the people supervising were extremely specific about the number chairs and all the rest of the set up. Little did we know, we would hear from President Russell M. Nelson, the president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. To put that into perspective, President Nelson is in the same position as Peter of the New Testament. The same Peter that walked on water and stood at the right hand of the Savior. For Choir that night, we sang a beautiful arrangement of "Praise to the Man". Talk about inviting the Spirit! President Nelson gave an absolutely amazing talk on the cleansing and strengthening power of the atonement. One quote he said that I really loved, "We walk to the edge of the light, not knowing how to resolve
our concerns, but trusting that he (God) will". It was an absolutely amazing experience and a fantastic opportunity. One that I will remember for the rest of my life.

I am so grateful for all the love and support I receive from back home. My family means everything to me, but giving up my family for two years so that I can help other families through the eternities is a no brainer for me. I am so grateful for the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the countless blessings it has brought
into my life. I am grateful for missionary work. I am so grateful for the two missionaries who decided to knock on the doors of my family so many years ago. Little did they know of the influence they would have on the world from that one decision. Without them, I don't know where I would be. I am so grateful for my Savior and his sacrifice for me. I
am far from perfect, but through the Savior and his atonement, I can do all things.

Keep on keepin on! Ai shitte imasu!

Typhoons, Lady’s Baseball, and Zone Conference⛩🇯🇵 (Week 98)

Well, it’s been quite the week over here in the Land of the Rising Sun. Once again, we’ve been stretched pretty thin with not a whole lot of time to come up for air, but it’s been a blast and we’ve been blessed to see all kinds of miracles. To start with, the beginning of last week was all meetings and planning for Zone Conference this past Thursday . Elder Matsunaga and I and the STL’s gave a zone training on becoming experts in PMG which went really well and lined up perfectly with President Warnick’s trainings, and then Elder McDonald and I did a musical number with President Warnick in guitar which went as well as it could with zero practice lol. Either way though, we sang “I’ll go where you want me to go” and the Spirit was strong, so that’s all that matters. Next pretty big event this past week was our typhoon this past Saturday . We talked to some pretty concerned Japanese people and got lots of calls from leadership, but everything was completely fine. I tried explain...

Thanks for the Ride⛩🏆 (Week 102 - Last P-day!!!)

Today is a day of mixed emotions. As we come to the end of this two year adventure they call a mission, my heart is filled with nothing but gratitude and joy. The past two years have been an experience like no other, but I’m just grateful that the Lord saw fit to let me be a part of it and see his hand bless the lives of folks through me. There is a quote I saw once that I think sums things up pretty well. “Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. Most putts don’t drop. Most beef is tough. Most children grow up to be just people. Most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration. Most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old-time rail journey: delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.” It has been truly h...

One For the Books🇯🇵🏆⛩ (Week 101)

This past weeks has definitely been one for the books. A lot has happened and we don’t have a whole lot of time to write today so I’ll cover the highlights. 1. Last Monday, we had Zone p-day and zone blitz over in Machida. Got to ball up a little bit on the court and top it off with some family history dendo that night. We asked everyone to prepare and bring their own pedigree chart and then a couple blank ones to hand out. It was a lot of fun and a huge blessing to be able to use my own family stories to invite the people of Japan to come unto Christ. 2. Tuesday, we had a combined Kofu and Hachioji District Meeting. Had lots of good trainings and learned a lot. Also had the opportunity to write a gospel haiku. Anyone who knows me, knows that language arts isn’t my specialty, but I think it turned out pretty good. 善に向けて、悔い改めを、清めなり 3. On Wednesday we taught a lesson to our friend Sanosaka San. Talked a lot about the gospel of Jesus Christ and how faith leads to repentance and repentanc...
