Splits, Donuts, and General Authorities🌊⛩🏝 (Week 72)

皆さんこんにちは! It’s been another adventurous week in the Land of the Rising Sun. And I might add, a cold adventure in a land where there seems to be a lack of heat from the Sun. Now you might recall my complaints in last week's email about the cold temperatures, but let me tell you, they were nothing compared to this week. We got snow last Monday, and it was a blast. Being from Alabama, it was probably the most snow I have ever seen. Somewhere between six and eight inches. There were lots of snow shoveling service opportunities, lol. Now here’s the rough part: the day after the snow, it got pretty warm so a lot of the snow melted pretty quick. So picture this, someone took a slushy and poured it literally everywhere, and then the temperature drops straight to 0 degrees Celsius. So now, there is just ice everywhere and the traffic has been insane. That’s what this past week has consisted of. Despite the freezing temperatures though, we have been able to get out this week and see a lot...

Mochi and then some🍲💸 (Week 71)

Hello everyone. It is currently 11am on Monday morning and snowing outside (missionary snowball fights for days), here in the Land of the Rising Sun. It's been a pretty good week. Next level kinda cold and we've been biking through it like mad men, but I love every second of it! Honestly not a lot to report from this past week though. Just a lot of going out into the cold and talking to everybody. We also had the opportunity to attend Zone Conference this past Wednesday . It was a lot of fun meeting up with all the missionaries and hearing from President Warnick. A lot about developing personal faith and trusting the Lord. Good stuff. One big miracle we saw this week though, was with our good friend Kobayashi San. Now previous to this last Sunday, we had tried to reach out to Kobayashi San many a time, but with no success. Week after week we tried to call, and time after time, we were answered by the soothing voice of the nice Japanese lady that does the answering machines h...

Po up... Heh shot...💯💸 (Week 70)

こんにちは my dudes! Hope everyone had a 素晴らしい week! It's been pretty good over here in the land of the rising sun. Elder Low and I have been able to get out in the freezing cold a lot this past week continue fighting the good fight. As much as I love our sub-zero adventures though, I am definitely looking forward to the warmer days ahead! Despite all of that though, we have been able to meet some awesome people and see some amazing miracles this past week. Last Monday, we met with our homie Takuma. Grabbed some dinner together and did some good "get to know you". As Elder Low was showing him some pictures of his family, he came across one picture that had a temple in the background. Takuma noticed the giant white castle and naturally asked about it, which led to a long conversation about temples and God's Plan of happiness for us. The blessing of the temple are everywhere, whether they are providing us with eternal families or simply leading into a discussion about God...

Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto🤖🇯🇵⛩ (Week 69)

What's up all my party people!? Hope everyone's boats are still floating! As some of you may already know, お正月 (New Year's) is a really big deal here in the Land of the Rising Sun. People go back to their home towns and party with family. So basically anywhere that isn't a "traditional" area per say, turns into a ghost town. In other words, the dendo has been rough because there's no one to talk to lol. Despite all that though, we were able to be in several members homes for dinners this past week and let me tell you, it was awesome. I can't even tell you how many times, I've walked into a member's home and thought to my self like "Oh man, there are six missionaries here. There's no way this will feed all of us." And then by the time we leave everyone is about to roll over and die from eating so much and the members are just like, "you guys barely ate anything. Here, take all this other food! Oh, and we forgot desert!"...

Out of the Dark Year🌅⛩🎉 (Week 68)

How's it going all of my beautiful friends and family!? Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years! Due to our New Years adventures here in Japan, I don't have any time to write today, so I hope all the pictures will do! New Years is a big deal in Japan because it is the Land of the Rising Sun. This morning we woke up super early and trained down to Enoshima Island to see the first Sunrise of 2018. It was awesome and I had a lot of opportunity to reflect on how blessed we really are to be a part of God's beautiful creation. He has a plan for us. I don't always understand that plan, but I will always trust it. Heavenly Father lives and He loves all of us! In other news, I just finished my dark year (the year that I don't see my family)! A mission is amazing and it's been quite the adventure. I love the mission and I love the Lord. I also love my family though and am excited to see them again later this year. Keep on keepin on!  愛しています! -Elder S...
